Sharron McKenzie: The Affordable Editor
While my childhood dream was to become a lion tamer, eventually I grew up and decided that fending off typos might be safer than dealing with large carnivores. I became an editor and a writer, with more than 25 published short stories and a fantasy novel to my name.
I specialize in affordable line and copy editing, the final steps on the path to publishing your work. This editing process involves checking spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation, as well as editing sentences for clarity and flow.
Experience
I have a degree in creative writing, and a certificate in editing from SFU. I've also completed a number of short courses, including the Knowadays Becoming a Proofreader course. I've worked on over 100 nonfiction books, and a wide array of fiction, from romances to horror novels, as well as shorter work such as dissertations, CVs, academic essays and blog posts.
I'm familiar with US, UK, and NZ/Australian English spelling and punctuation styles, and am proficient in APA and MLA citation styles. I have a current subscription to CMOS and use it when editing fiction.

Services
I offer editing at affordable rates. As the amount of editing required varies per project, my rates range between US$10–14 per 1000 words. UK clients, contact me directly for pricing. I'll do a 1000-word sample edit for free if you want to see how well we work together.
Prospective clients, please note: I prefer not to work with AI-generated text.
